Egypt Tourism Sector Badly Hit By Revolution

According to the latest figures released by the Egypt Tourism Authority (ETA), tourism in Egypt dropped by about 28 % for the period January to July this year because of the revolution in the country earlier this year.
The number of Arab tourists visiting Egypt fell about 17 %, with a 28 % drop in the month of July alone. The decline in Arab tourism to Egypt was mainly because of the political unrest in Libya, Syria and Yemen. According to some experts, the revolution in Egypt did affect the real estate and stock markets, but the Egypt tourism sector was the worst hit.
However, the Egypt tourism sector could be getting worse in the future if Muslim Brotherhood has demand stricter regulations for tourists in Egypt. The demands include a ban on bikinis and consumption of alcohol on streets in Egypt.
